PJ Alarms Q&A about Faults / Service Issues

We receive many questions surrounding the services we offer to previous PJ Alarm customers, and so we would like to provide some answers to the most commonly asked questions.

As we have explained in our previous post P J Alarms – Sold in August 2016, PJ Alarms sold out to an international company. Although the initial customer contracts were automatically transferred, many customers have decided to move their support local businesses like ourselves for a more personal service.

What is a ‘Takeover’ of my alarm, and why do I need it?

We commonly refer to customers with an existing alarm system currently fitted, or serviced elsewhere, as requiring a ‘takeover’. This is a short visit to site, of which we inspect the installation of the system, adjust any settings inline with current regulation, and assign our own engineer codes. This process is beneficial to the customer as it may identify any potential issues with the system, and also allows us to put all of the required paperwork together for the future management of your system.

Does anything need to be replaced in a takeover?

Most systems will require a replacement backup battery, and we usually replace the bell box on the system… This is always welcomed by customers as the old PJ Alarm bell boxes can look quite dated, and having a fresh looking box conveys to a criminal that your system is up to date and maintained by a currently trading company.

Do I need to take out a contract?

A contract with Rossells is completely optional. Without a contract we simply carry out a service visit, usually on a yearly basis, upon your request. With a contract, you also have the assurance that you can contact our team and receive a guaranteed service for faults or issues.

How long does a takeover take?

Depending on the size of the property / alarm system, it can take between 1 and 2 hours for a takeover visit. We know time is short, so we always work as quickly as we can.

I now have pets and haven’t been able to set my PJ Alarm.

No problem, we have a range of replacement detectors that can work perfectly with your existing alarm. These ignore pet movement, but can still identify an intruder.

My PJ Alarm keeps going off when there is a power cut.

This is the typical behaviour of a faulty / old battery that is due for replacement. Our engineers can sort this out when they visit to takeover your system.

How do we know Rossells isn’t going to sell out to a national company?

Our director is a long way from retirement and has no plans to hand over our trusting customers to such an organisation. Rossells is here to support the Leicestershire economy.
